A marriage biodata is read in 30 seconds on a phone, usually forwarded through two or three relatives before it reaches the family that matters. The format below is what most Indian families expect, in this order.

1. Header (optional)

A blessing line - "॥ श्री गणेशाय नमः ॥" for many Hindu families, Bismillah for Muslim families, Ik Onkar for Sikh families - followed by the name. Modern and NRI biodatas usually skip the blessing.

2. Personal details

  • Full name
  • Date of birth (not age - age changes, the date doesn't)
  • Time and place of birth (needed for kundli)
  • Height (feet-inches and cm if the biodata may go abroad)
  • Marital status
  • Religion / community (only if your family wants it shown)
  • Diet
  • Lives in (current city)
  • Optional: mother tongue, blood group, languages

3. Horoscope details (if your family uses them)

Rashi, nakshatra, charan, gan, nadi, manglik / non-manglik, gotra. These come from the birth date, time and place - our biodata maker calculates them for you, so they're correct.

4. Education

Highest degree first, with college and city.

5. Career

Role, employer (or business type), city; annual income only if your family is comfortable sharing it.

6. Family details

Father and mother (name, occupation), siblings (with occupation and married / unmarried), native place, family type (nuclear / joint), where the family lives.

7. About me

70-110 words in the first person: what you do, what you care about, how you spend your time, what you hope for in married life. This is the section families actually read - see how to write the About me.

8. Partner expectations

3-5 short lines or one short paragraph. Phrase them as preferences, not demands.

9. Contact

One contact person - usually a parent - with phone number. Email optional.

Format tips

  • One A4 page. Two at most.
  • A recent, clear photo: face visible, plain background, natural light, no heavy filters.
  • PDF, not a phone screenshot - it prints and forwards cleanly.
  • Same language as the family reading it - English for most, Hindi or a regional language for grandparents. Our tool makes both in one go.
